Government of Surakarta cooperates with art community to perform “Solo International Ethnic Music (SIEM) 2007. This event proposed to reanimate the tradition continuity that is a trade mark of Solo as cultural city.

This big event was held at 1st to 5th September 2007 in culture sites “heritage” Solo Benteng Vastenburg city. It was attended by many domestics’ delegation and foreign delegation. They were from Holland, Iraq, India, Greece, Philippine, Australia, Bengali and Korea.

The event that was performed in composition of nuance musical ethnic festival performing traditional ethnic, contemporary ethnic and entertainment ethnic had successfully hypnotized thousands audience.

Festival carried out during five days. The show time was scheduled on the morning, afternoon and on the night. The concept was being responded the sphere of nature in the morning when the sun started ascending and when the sun was setting in the afternoon. The performance on the night was oriented to get “highlight” with a spectacular performance of traditional ethnic, contemporary ethnic and entertainment ethnic for thousands audience.

In this event, the audience also could enjoy the performing of pop musician like Dwiki Darmawan, Gilang Ramadan and Dewa Bujana. They performed ethnic music composition. Jadug Ferianto with his group, KUA Etnika was also performed here. This event also held music conference, dialogue between the musicians, critics, national and international music observer. It’s expected to give education about ethnic music.

The conference was held on 2nd to 5th September 2007 at 10.00 to 13.00. the panelist are Ramon P Santos (Philipine), Mara Hakim, Goh Hing Lee, James.F Sundah, Slamet Abdul Syukur, Purwanti Kusumaningtyas, and Endo Suwondo. The panelist of this conference not only from musician, the committee also invited from out side of music discipline that was Tung Desem Waringin. SA
